NSPA Announces Scholarship Provider of the Year Award Winners

Wednesday, November 1, 2017

BOULDER, CO (November 1, 2017) – The National Scholarship Providers Association (NSPA) announced the 2017 winners of the Scholarship Provider of the Year (SPOY) Award. The award recognizes outstanding scholarship practices in two categories, Independent Scholarship Providers and Colleges & Universities.  This year’s recipients, TheDream.US and Bellevue University, were recognized at the NSPA Annual Conference in Seattle, WA.

“The Scholarship Provider of the Year Award is a prestigious honor in the industry.  Each year it acknowledges two members who demonstrate exceptional leadership, efficiency, and impact in their support of higher education,” remarked K.J. McCorry, the Interim Executive Director of NSPA. “What truly makes this a special award is that winners are selected by a committee of peers.”

Both scholarship providers selected for the annual honor receive a $2,500 cash prize sponsored by Fastweb, the nation's recognized leader in helping students pay for school and a top site in the Monster Worldwide network. Organizations must be current members of the NSPA to be considered for the award.

For over 22 years Fastweb has been the nation's recognized leader in helping students pay for college. The Fastweb community is made up of Students, Parents, Scholarship Providers and Educators that are seeking and supporting ways to fund higher education. Fastweb is thrilled to once again sponsor the Scholarship Provider of the Year awards to recognize the dedication of all the providers involved to support students in achieving their educational goals.

The Scholarships & Grants Department at Bellevue University provides financial assistance, guidance, and documented resources through a number of channels to help empower prospective and current students to close financial gaps in order to enroll and persist in their program of study through graduation.  As members of the university community, the Scholarships & Grants Department collaborates with a number of departments campus-wide and with the local community to provide outreach and scholarship and grant resources to our student population.  We work to help students keep loan debt manageable, so that upon degree conferral our graduates have the means and ability to support their families, give back to their local communities, and stimulate the local economy.

TheDream.US is the nation’s largest college access and success program for DREAMers - undocumented immigrants who came to this country as children. Its work is anchored in the belief that all children living in this country—regardless of where they are born —should have the opportunity to receive a college education and graduate prepared to help our nation succeed. TheDream.US has supported over 3,000 DREAMers who are enrolled in or have graduated from over 75 Partner Colleges committed to their college success. These students’ persistence rates and academic achievements are remarkable. And their contributions to their colleges and the companies at which they work are helping ensure the nation’s social and economic progress.
